Santa Claus is coming to town!

So yesterday, I took the kids to see Santa Claus at
the Bass Pro Shop in Leeds. Vinnie was all about seeing Santa, until he got 10 feet from him. Since Santa knew that I wanted a picture of both kids, he bribed Vinnie with a candy cane to stand there. LOL!

Emily told Santa she wanted a V-smile... she's not getting one, she is getting the Leapster 2... hope she can cope!
Vinnie told Santa he wanted a train... I am sure he will be getting a few between all the grandparenst!

I love my beautiful kids and I am so happy to have them in my life! They are the best Christmas present I get every year!

Here I am

I haven't blogged in a while. In September, I lost my job and have been actively searching for another. So far, I have had very little results. This job market in Birmingham is terrible! The "temp' companies seem to have LOTS of jobs, but the papers, etc. show next to nothing other than those. I am applying (sending resumes) to at least 10 companies a week for nearly 8 weeks. I am recieving unemployment, but that is only going to last so long. I cannot stand this. I feel utterly useless.
I realize that my job does not define me, however, I feel somewhat not myself without gainful employment. I know that I am a mother first and foremost in life, but I have worked for the last 16 yrs straight. After the kids were born, I went right back to work. There wasn't much choice in the matter. So now I am a stay at home mom. Something I always said I wanted to be. So why is it that I do not feel right?
Because I feel unstable in life. I am responsible for my family. If I am not their provider, then who is??? My parents and my boyfriend help when they are able to.. but it is NOT their responsibility to PAY for my children and me.
I just feel that I have no worth right now.

Who am I? by Casting Crowns

Who am I?
This is a question we all ask
That the Lord of all the earth,
Would care to know my name,
Would care to feel my hurt.
Who am I?
Jeremiah 1:5
"I knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb.
Before you were born I set you apart
and appointed you as my spokesman to the world."
That the bright and morning star,
Would choose to light the way,
For my ever wandering heart.
Psalms 119:105
Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path.
Bridge:
Not because of who I am,
But because of what you've done.
Not because of what I've done,
But because of who you are.
Isaiah 12:2
See, God has come to save me.

I will trust in him and not be afraid.
The Lord God is my strength and my song;
he has become my salvation."
Chorus:
I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow,
A wave tossed in the ocean,
A vapor in the wind
Matthew 6:30
And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers
that are here today and gone tomorrow,
won't he more surely care for you?
You have so little faith!
Still you hear me when I'm calling,
Lord, you catch me when I'm falling,
And you've told me who I am.
I am yours.
I am yours.
Who am I?
That the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love
And watch me rise again.
Rom 5:15
And what a difference between our sin and God's generous gift of forgiveness.
For this one man, Adam, brought death to many through his sin.
But this other man, Jesus Christ,
brought forgiveness to many through God's bountiful gift.
Who am I?
That the voice that calmed the sea,
Would call out through the rain,
And calm the storm in me.
Matthew 8:24 - 27
Suddenly, a terrible storm came up, with waves breaking
into the boat.
But Jesus was sleeping.
The disciples went to him and woke him up, shouting,
"Lord, save us! We're going to drown!"
And Jesus answered, "Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!"

Then he stood up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly all was calm.
The disciples just sat there in awe. "Who is this?" they asked themselves.
"Even the wind and waves obey him!"
Not because of who I am,
But because of what you've done.
Not because of what I've done,
But because of who you are.
I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow,
A wave tossed in the ocean,
A vapor in the wind.
Still you hear me when I'm calling,
Lord, you catch me when I'm falling,
And you've told me who I am.
I am yours.
Not because of who I am,
But because of what you've done.
Not because of what I've done,
But because of who you are.
I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow,
A wave tossed in the ocean,
A vapor in the wind.
Still you hear me when I'm calling,
Lord, you catch me when I'm falling,
And you've told me who I am.
I am yours.
I am yours.
I am yours.
Whom shall I fear?
Whom shall I fear?'
Cause I am yours.
I am yours.
I am so THANKFUL, Lord that you are with me every hour of every day. Not one minute goes by that you do not know what I am doing, feeling or dealing with! Thank you Father.

Blue Skies

I was blue, just as blue as I could be
Evry day was a cloudy day for me
Then good luck came a-knocking at my door
Skies were gray but theyre not gray anymore
Blue skies
Smiling at me
Nothing but blue skies
Do I see
Bluebirds
Singing a song
Nothing but bluebirds
All day long
Never saw the sun shining so bright
Never saw things going so right
Noticing the days hurrying by
When youre in love, my how they fly
Blue days
All of them gone
Nothing but blue skies
From now on

She got a CONCUSSION!

Here she is, Emily, just before we left the Children's Hospital.
She stumbled at school Friday morning after getting off the bus and fell headfirst into one of the metal poles of the covered walkway. GREAT!!!
She got to the nurse, with help from another student and was dizzy and disoriented, had trouble standing and her eyes were very dilated... They called an AMBULANCE and took her to the Children's ER... As she got to recovering, she decided she thoroughly enjoyed the whole medical emergency thing.. This worries me greatly... She wanted pictures of her experience...
She recovered fine, but GOOD LORD, it was scary for a while!

You know the SOCK MONSTER???

Well, apparently there is a SHOE MONSTER!!!

My daughter missed the bus today because she could not find 2 shoes that matched... She found 5 or 6 different shoes, but no matches... She found two PAIRS of my flip flops and a PAIR of her brothers "croc's"... but all she could find of hers was a pair of brown suede mary janes... Definitely FALL or WINTER shoes... not shoes that match pink plaid shorts and a pink t shirt!

So we missed the bus.. and I had to take her to school... THAT was a pain and she kept asking, "Why is this taking so long?" I just would say, "Because you lost your shoes!"

It amazes me that she LOST her shoes or rather ONE of them after taking them off at 6:15 pm last night and by 6:15 AM they are LOST!! AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!

ok.. I feel better now.

Spirits

Do you believe in ghosts?
Spirits, Demons?

Not like Casper or shadows saying, "Boo"...

I mean the real, live, sent from Satan kind....

What about "family curses"?

Well I have seen them and felt them and made them leave my presence with help from God.

This weekend we (Wesley and I) had a "back to school" pool party for Mary and her friends. I saw one child covered up in something that is pure EVIL.. and she is in need of prayer... Pray for Harmony.. she is going to need so much help in her lifetime.

She left a stain on the house.. after the children left, we could barely stay inside the house. We had to go into the yard.. after a bit, we felt that we needed to take my son on away from the house to meet his father...

Neither one of wanted to stay at the house after we took my son, so we left and just drove around for a few hours (at $3.75 a gallon!)... Finally we started to figure it out... We went home and began to discuss the kids.. ours, the ones that were at the house, some others we knew of that had led rough lives...

As we got closer to speaking of what was happening to the children, especially Harmony and the fact that my son would not let her pick him up (this is NOT like my son...), things started falling and dropping in another room in the house. We went in and it was ice cold, but could not see what had fallen...

But we had NO sense of fear in that room.. whatever had been there had FLED...

People, this is going to be a battle soon... Study and pray and learn about GOD... Satan will decieve you and you need to be ready with the TRUTH!!

Body of Christ - Monday August 18, 2008 - by Sherry Blankenhorn

Good Monday morning! May God's blessings and favor be upon you as you begin this work week. May our souls be stirred by the omnipotent presence of God and well up with thanksgiving to the source of whom all blessings flow. We thank you Father.

Yesterday in Sunday School, our teacher shared a statement from one of his co-workers that pierced by soul and has been on my mind ever since. It was concerning the disturbing events that are occurring all around us, more and more every day. This statement may not come as a surprise to you but it one that needs more of our attention than we're giving.

He spoke of the troubling events in the world today; high gas prices, economic instability, etc. The statement that followed brought a reality we all need to think about.

These events are setting the stage for someone to come on the scene and miraculously make them go away. He spoke of the fact that people will view these solutions as the works of a miracle worker, so to speak, and will worship the one that seems to solve all of these troubling events of today, deceiving people that will follow.

Think about it. Can you see this taking place as he described, considering all the scriptures we read in the Bible about the one such person we've been warned about?

Who is a liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the antichrist--he denies the Father and the Son. 1 John 2:22

This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not of God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. 1 John 4:2-3

Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist. 2 John 1:7

Do not let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will come, until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself in God's temple, proclaiming himself to be God. 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4

One of the heads of the beast seemed to have a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been healed. The whole world was astonished and followed the beast. Men worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, "Who is like the beast? Who can make war against him?" Revelation 13:3-4

We've been warned about the antichrist and God has certainly put out an all points bulletin (APB) on the enemy, complete with a visual picture posted in our minds. Further warning, do not harbor this fugitive; there is a reward:

Watch out that you do not lose what you have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully. Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into your house or welcome him. Anyone who welcomes him shares in his wicked work. 2 John 1:8-11

Enemy captured:
But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed the miraculous signs on his behalf. With these signs he deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped his image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. The rest of them were killed with the sword that came out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds gorged themselves on their flesh. Revelation 19: 20-21

One more event that is going on right now is in the minds of people throughout the world. The ideas pertaining to taking God out of so many things in the world are setting the stage for people to be deceived into thinking God is being put back into those places.

The antichrist will put himself in the position of God.

This vision recorded by John in Revelation 20:11-15 is the future headline of these events, The Dead are Judged:
Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:11-15

Prepare for the final battle; make sure that your name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life. Although we can only account for our own actions, we must warn others to be ready too. Out of all the plans we make for our future, God's plan is the one we should focus on first and foremost.

BOC Prayer:
God Almighty, we thank you for your Master Plan, which includes us all and holds our eternal destiny. We ask you Holy Spirit to guide us through each and every detail of instruction to actively carry out our roles in God's perfect plan. Give us the words to share with others when divine appointments are made. Give us the boldness to keep these appointments and confidently speak your very words to each one. We love you and thank you for the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. In His name we pray. Amen

Happy Birthday to me!

I am 36 today! I cannot believe it... I look back and think of my mother at my age.. I was 14 when she was 36. My own daughter is not even 6 yet. In a way I feel younger for that, but at times I feel just way to old to have kids so young.

My life is so complicated. But yet it isn't. To DESCRIBE my life's situation it sounds quite crazy. But to live it, feels busy, but fairly simple! LOL

I have a few goals for the year:
1. Make a CD of me singing, some songs with Daniel - some solo... some with music, some a capella... I do not care about selling it so much as giving it to my children and my family and any friends who may want it.. It would be mostly Hymns and Lullabies.
2. Work on my general health... I need to lose weight. I need to resume exercising. I need to make better food choices for myself and my family. I have a stomach of iron, but the people I am responsible for feeding have much more delicate systems than I do and I need to balance all of us... All of us eating "a la cart" is getting old.
3. Work towards gaining or regaining the respect and discipline of my children. My life over the last few years has been somewhat chaotic to say the least, and they pretty much are wild.... They aren't BAD, but very mischevious... LIKE ELVES.. always wanting to play tricks on you! Our "Joke" lately is that Emily (at 5 1/2) seems like she's working towards being KID ROCK's next girlfriend! And Vincent is training to be a Chippendales Dancer! Emily loves mini skirts and her cowgirl boots! When she wears them she walks like a "supermodel"... SERIOUSLY... and Vincent, being 2... HE loves to take his clothes off... and dance! LOL I admit I am at fault, because I find it funny, there fore I have a hard time being convincing at telling them NO...
Re-learning discipline on ALL of our parts is going to be tough!

DOES not wisdom cry out,
And understanding lift up her voice?

Isaiah 43:1
But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called [thee] by thy name; thou [art] mine.
ReflectionWe are so precious to the Lord that He calls us His children. It is amazing to know that the Lord calls each one of us by name!

Sherry's Devotion for today

Good afternoon and Good Friday! As we look forward to winding down our work week, our thoughts may reflect on the events of each day. Today we also have the opportunity to reflect on the Word that God has given us this week, which has the power to make a huge difference in our plans. Whether the events of the week were good or bad, we can't change them even if we wanted to but we have the promises of God to rely on and yesterday is gone. He has the power to change any situation from bad to good and we have direct access to God through our faith in Jesus Christ, today and forever.

Our relationship with Christ continues to grow each day that we seek Him first, heed His Word and apply each one in obedience to Him. We've learned so much as we've grown in God's grace and wisdom and have a better understanding of Him and how we are to follow Christ's example. So as we make plans for our weekend, we can apply what we've learned about careful planning which includes trusting in God's guidance. Keeping in mind that the future is in His hands. Plan ahead, but hold those plans loosely and put God's desires at the center of your planning; he will never disappoint us.

"Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city. spend a year there, carry on business and make money." Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a midst that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you boast and brag. All such boasting is evil. Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins. James 4:13-17

The plans we make consist of a series of choices that will produce results that correspond with those choices. We have a goal in mind, a destination that requires specific directions. There may be several routes to that destination or only one way but one thing is for sure, it's our choice. We can do it the hard way and take the long route but obviously, that's illogical, an unwise plan of direction. A lesson we've learned from the Old Testament account of Moses and the 40 years of wandering in the wilderness with the goal of reaching the land God promised them.

Disobedience caused this journey to much longer than it should have been. God heard the cries of his people in suffering and gave them a plan of escape from slavery. Countless events of Israel's deliverance are recorded in Exodus, relating more miracles than any other Old Testament book as well as the Ten Commandments. From Moses to Joshua, we can't help but understand the value and benefits of obedience to following God's plan and the tragic consequences of disobedience.

Our goal is to reach that destination as quickly and worry free as possible; a wise choice. The enemy will try to sell us a map with directions of deception; a short cut to our destination. The map of the enemy will lead us down detours that cause worry, poor health, delaying us from our destination and will ultimately lead its followers to road blocks of fear; dead end.

Fearful thoughts of what will happen next, flood our minds, freezing our ability to react and move forward. We feel lost as reality sets in; we've followed the wrong map. It led us directly to the destiny it was created for, away from God, and we know who created it. Against our better judgment, we chose to ignore the logical reasoning presented in our original plans, under the direction of God, thought he Holy Spirit.

But then we remember that we still have God's map hidden away in a compartment of our hearts; thanks to God's grace and mercy of allowing the Holy Spirit to defrost our frozen state of fear with warming thoughts of wisdom. We can still make it there, we still have hope. It may take a little longer but we can trust God's plan, a map of truth, His directions.

The directions are clear, they warn us not to take the detours that may tempt us to take, but assure us that this simple straight road will lead us directly to our destination. We are told that the road in narrow and most likely, there won't be a lot of traffic; for most have not chosen this route.

We've lost some time on those detours to worry but next time we'll know. Our plans for tomorrow will not include fear of what it holds because our plan is not ours, but God's. His map is free of cost and free of worry.

May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. Psalm 20:4

This wilderness journey to the promised land began with Moses leading God's plan for them to reach destination Promised Land. Did you know that there were only two men that were there when the journey began and when it ended at the Promised Land? Moses didn't make it. It was Josuah and Caleb.

Disobedience and lack of faith, made this a long hard journey. Knowing how that disobedience affected the length of the journey, should help us make the wise choice of obeying God's plan that he has for us. Josuah followed God's plans, completely obeying God and they finally made it. Many died on that journey too, as a result of disobedience.

Many people think that prosperity and success come from having power, influential personal contacts, and a relentless desire to get ahead. But the strategy for gaining prosperity that God taught Joshua goes against such criteria.

He said that to succeed Joshua must :
1. Be strong and courageous because the task ahead would not be easy.
2.Obey God's law
3.Constantly read and study the Book of the Law-God's Word.

To be successful, follow God's words to Joshua. You may not succeed by the world's standards, but you will be a success in God's eyes-and his opinion lasts forever.

Always allowing God to lead the plans we make will help us reach our destination safe and sound. Whether it's a family outing, an event, a goal; include God in the plans, follow His lead. In life, follow the examples that we've been given in Christ and other successful leaders just as Joshua.

Plan carefully with God and plan for success. We have so many opportunities to claim Victory in Jesus!

Claim them All in Jesus Name,

Prayer:

Holy Father, our Friend and Guide, thank you for teaching us the right way and the wrong way as we make plans.so there are no excuses for the choices we make. We choose to serve you and we ask you to forgive us for choosing the wrong way when we knew where it would lead us. Help us to remember what we've learned to be true from you and even from the mistakes we make and utilize this wisdom to make choices based on your truth in all of our plans, whether as a parent, a worker, a student, a leader or a friend. We lift our praises to you with love and adoration. Our goal is to glorify your name in everything that we do here on earth and on into our final goal of making heaven our home, our eternal destination is you. We worship you Lord. Amen.

Walking through Romans - part 2

Romans 1:2-4 NIV
2 the gospel he promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures

The Gospel, A.K.A. The Good News, the message, the word, the plan, the truth, the written Testimony of Christ and the list goes on and on. Today we call “The Gospel” a verity of things, but in the days of Paul, the Gospel was a new idea. He felt it was something very special and unique. We may have become desensitized to the awesome power of The Gospel, but Paul knew the weight and responsibility he carried when he brought The Gospel to people. The Gospel sacred and holy. It is the message by which the plan of salvation through the sacrifice and life of Christ Jesus is laid out for someone to hear, understand and believe in the loving God that brought all of this about, just so he could spend eternity with a creation that chooses to love Him as he loves it. HE planned it from the beginning of the world, laid it out in creation, told mankind through prophets and scriptures and the sent his Son to be the living example and eternal sacrifice and intercessor to restore man to the Grace of a loving God. HE truly loved us first.

3 regarding his Son, who as to his human nature was a descendant of David,

A descendant of David.

My challenge to you the reader is to take some time and trace the linage of Christ, through Mary to David. Find out just how Christ is related to David, there by fulfilling several prophecies concerning Jesus being the Christ foretold of in the scriptures. You may be surprised what you find.

4 and who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.

Prophecy, birth, life, ministry, Death and finally resurrection and ascension to the father. This is the true story of the Gospel. This is the story of Jesus and his purpose as it relates to us. He was sent for a specific reason. A mission given from God to achieve a particular goal, restoration of humanity to God by freedom of choice paid for by sacrifice and granted under Grace. The ultimate testimony of God’s Love for us. Notice a theme here. Paul was on a mission, Christ was sent for a mission, We are called for a particular mission. Ever get the idea that God works through people with a specific purpose in mind. After you can not use a screwdriver to drive a nail and get the job done as efficiently and correctly as if you choose to use the correct tool for the job, a hammer. Again, we are tools in the hands of the master builder.

Walking through Romans - by Charles Wesley Williams

Taking a walk Through Romans

“1 Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God–“ Romans 1:1

Just thought I would take a walk through Romans and see what God Would show me. I was tempted to skip ahead to chapters 8, 9 and 10 and begin there. But the Lord pressed upon my heart an old phrase. “If it is worth doing, it is worth doing right.” If God so chooses to place the book of Romans on my heart, then it is I who must start at the beginning and allow Him to teach me his ways. So join me on a walk though Romans and let’s see where the Lords leads us.

The very first verse starts out, like many other letters that Paul wrote, stating who he is. This is not Paul boasting, but is actually him stating by which authority he writes to the church. This is Paul actually being humble to the will of God. Stated so completely by the words, “Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus.”

Later in the book we will read about Paul describing those that are called by Christ to serve Him in his earthly work. This is made reference to when Paul mentions that he was “Called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God-“ Paul is referring to the callings of God and to predestination. Again a topic best suited for Chapter 8. So please bear with me.

What I do want to call to attention is the plain and very blunt statement that Paul, one of the founders of the church, the man who through divine inspiration wrote the majority of what we now call the new testament. This visionary of the church and founder of many of the doctrines, practices and beliefs of the modern church was nothing more that a servant of Christ. Just like you and I. He was called of God for a purpose no grander than the one God has called us for.

He was to take the Gospel to those that needed to hear “the good news” of Christ Jesus and the salvation obtained through the Cross. He was just a man on a mission from his Lord. The same Lord, and in many cases the same mission we have been set upon. The only major difference between Paul and you or I is that he took it more serious and was far more dedicated that we are. He reached out to a world in need of light and showed them the Son. We are the servants of Christ Jesus. We have been called to be the stewards of his Word. The givers of the Good News. The bearers of the Gospel. The redeemed lives lived as an example of what the Love of God can do.

We are those people. We have been set apart for a purpose and a plan that was written, orchestrated and governed by none other than God himself, creator of all tings great and small. We are special. We are all Paul’s in our own respect. We have been given a great and glorious task. To carry the Word of God and the Love that dwells in our souls out into a world that cries out for the love and security a personal relationship with the Creator through Christ can bring. I as you today, right now, this moment in your life to look at you life and see it for what it is.

Know the precious gift you have been given and feel the weight of the calling you have on your life. Open your heart to the voice of God and allow him to tell you where to go. You are special. You are a tool in the hand of the master builder. You are called By HIS name and for HIS purpose. Go and do the will of God.

Refreshed...

Okay, so my journey in life has been a weird and winding road. Sometimes I am on the right path, narrow and steep but well marked... other times I venture down other paths that lead me no where or completely back to where I started from.

You may see some changes in me, hopefully for the better...

I have quit smoking, and I think quit drinking... the drinking thing was unintentional... LOL
I have just been NOT drinking, not felt like it...

I find myself wanting to search God's WORD more... I have believed for years, but now I feel led to truly try to LIVE what I believe.... anyway... just wanting to share my thoughts on my life... I know some of my current friends may think this is sort of odd...

I am doing a study in the Word of the Holy Spirit... I feel refreshed with every section of the study I complete.

Shackles - Mary Mary

Shackles (Praise You)

(spoken)
(Whoo!)
It sure is hot out here
Ya know?
I don't mind, though.
Just glad to be free.
(Know what I'm saying, uh!)
Take the shackles off my feet so I can dance
I just wanna praise you
(Whatcha wanna do?)
I just wanna praise you
(Yeah, yeah)
You broke the chains now I can lift my hands
(Uh feel me?)
And I'm gonna praise you
(Whatcha gonna do?)
I'm gonna praise you
In the corners of my mind
I just can't seem to find a reason to believe
That I can break free
Cause you see I have been bound for so long
Felt like all hope is gone
But as I lift my hands, I understand
That I should praise you through my circumstance
Take the shackles off my feet so I can dance
I just wanna praise you
I just wanna praise you
You broke the chains now I can lift my hands
And I'm gonna praise you
I'm gonna praise you
Everything that could go wrong
All went wrong at one time
So much pressure fell on me
I thought I was gonna lose my mind
But I know you wanna see
If I will hold on through these trials
But I need you to lift this load
Cause I can't take it no more
Take the shackles off my feet so I can dance
I just wanna praise you
I just wanna praise you
You broke the chains now I can lift my hands
And I'm gonna praise youI'm gonna praise you
Been through the fire and the rain
Bound in every kind of way
But God has broken every chain
So let me go right now
Take the shackles off my feet so I can dance
I just wanna praise you
I just wanna praise you
You broke the chains now I can lift my hands
And I'm gonna praise you
I'm gonna praise you
(repeat x3)
Take them off
What'cha gonna do, yeah
Take the shackles off my feet so I can dance
I just wanna praise youI just wanna praise you
You broke the chains now I can lift my hands
And I'm gonna praise you
I'm gonna praise you

A lesson from Wesley

35 As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging.
36 When he heard the crowd going by, he asked what was happening.
37 They told him, "Jesus of Nazareth is passing by."
38 He called out, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"
39 Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!"
40 Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. When he came near, Jesus asked him,
41 "What do you want me to do for you?""Lord, I want to see," he replied.
42 Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight; your faith has healed you."
43 Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God.

Luke 18: 35-43 NIV

Looks like it is that time again. On my heart lays a burden. A very familiar one that I have come to know as if it were an old friend. My heart aches for the Church. The bride that seems to have lost her way to the altar and has thus far left the groom standing. Above, you read a very well used story from Luke.
It is the story of the blind beggar that called out to Jesus as he passed by.
Many times it is taught as a reminder of perseverance, dedication and faith in the Lord. It is taught as a motivator. An under dog story of a man that was in need and was willing to go against the odds to get the help he needed from the only one that could help him, Jesus Christ.
But I do not want to talk to you about the blind man. I do not want to talk to you about Jesus rewarding faith. I want to talk to you about The blind man's handlers. Those that led the way for Jesus and cleared the path for the master. Those that made sure the Lord had a place to walk and that everyone knew He was coming. They were the ones that were responsible for the safety and security of the most important man in history, the very Son of God. What an awesome responsibility they had. The were to lead the way into crowds so that Jesus could get to a place where He could speak to them. Or so that Jesus could get food, lodging or anywhere else He may have needed to go. They were charged with making sure Jesus got from point A to point B. I guess you could call these men Jesus' secrete service or security team. They were disciples and faithful followers that knew where Jesus was going. They were to clear the path so he could get there.
In today's world celebrities are mobbed by paparatizi, fans, stalkers and people that are curious to see what a famous person is "really like". It was not so much different in the time of Jesus. People still wanted to see this miracle man named Jesus. That man that claimed to be divine. People wanted to know who He was and what He was "really like".
I can't blame them. I would have been in that crowd that pressed in to get a better view of the man that claimed to be the Son of God. So sat the blind man, hearing but not seeing. Asking questions to fill in the gaps of understanding. Doing nothing particularly wrong, just being curious like everyone else. Once he realized what was going on, he realized he had a once in a lifetime opportunity to be healed. He had the faith, he just needed to be give the word. So he cried out for Jesus. The leaders rebuked him, scolded him and told him to shut up.
Oh, come on, Jesus, the son of God, The Word made Flesh was trying to be about His father's business and this blind guy was giving him a hard time and trying to bring the whole well oiled machine to a halt just because he was blind and wanted to be more special than all the other people calling out for Jesus that day. Who does this guy think he is? Why should he be more important that anyone or anything else. So the leaders, the security team, the faithful followers of Jesus Christ told him to "Shut Up!
Ever felt like the blind man? Have you ever had a church leader, those that are called of God to show a group of people the path to a better relationship with God, but you felt he wasn't listening? Please do not misunderstand me. I am not attempting to say that ALL leaders are poor or even that most or not compassionate. My focus is on the instances where a leader, who carries the great weight of leading others, being responsible for those that follow their example, teachings and works. That is a huge and awesome responsibility. One that weighs heavily on the mind and heart of those called to lead. BUT, due to that weight, that constant pressure to be the best at all times, we, being human, sometime make mistakes.
We make an offhand comments, a joke that is taken the wrong way or in some cases a misjudgment that in retrospect was not the right thing to do. Much like the leaders mentioned in Luke. They told the man to be quiet and leave the master alone. They were honestly doing their job. They were doing what they thought was right. But like my grand mother used to say, "A moment on the tongue could be a life time in the heart." Take care what you say. They got a little carried away and missed the fact that Jesus was sent to this Earth to help the faithful. To heal men just like the blind beggar. That the heart of God is moved by Faith.
These were not bad men. Just like some of the leaders of churches and groups are not bad people, just because they make a mistake. We are human. We get stressed, we get busy, we go on auto-pilot and just do the job without thinking about every move we make. We all do that from time to time. But when you are a leader, those small mistakes, those indiscretions or "shoot from the hip" comments become huge issues when they are magnified by the number of people it affects. Here is a mathematical analogy: lets say that an everyday person said to the beggar to be quiet. No one hears that but the average Joe and the blind man, the issue is only two times its original impact. But a leader, a person in the spotlight and known to be associated with someone very famous and important makes that comment and it goes from a simple comment to a big failure on the part of the leader because it is multiplied by EVERY person that heard the actual comment or heard about the comment being made. It starts a chain reaction that will continue to multiply with each retellingof the story. One comment causing hundreds of repercussions. So the leaders have to be very careful what they do.
And we as followers have to remember that they are just human beings. The blind man kept crying out for Jesus. Notice that he did NOT argue with the leader. he did not rebuke the leader back. He just stayed focused on Jesus and not on the man that was leading the way. He allowed the leader a mistake. Have you ever allowed your leaders a mistake? A free mulligan. A chance to NOT be hammered for human error? We could learn a lot from that blind man, and not just lesson on faith and perseverance. But on forgiveness and patience for those that carry the weight of the Gospel.
We could learn something from the those that led the way. Think before we act. Not everything is a simple act of duty. We are humans and individuals, lets treat each person individually and like a human being with emotions and feeling and a calling all their own. And of course we could learn from a simple yet profound lesson from Jesus. When He called out to the man, He did not rebuke either parties. He just did the work His father had called Him to do and rewarded true faith and then went back on His way. Sometime we just need to do the job and not focus on who made a mistake or who was right. In the end all that matters is that the work of God be done on the earth and it be done by the tools (US) that he has placed here for HIS purpose.
Father,
Humble our hearts, open us up to your wisdom. Let YOUR word flow in us. Speak to us as we walk this world. Let us be the light set on a hill. Let it not be the focus of our life to watch who places the light, who tends the light, who covers the light: just that the light is shining as a reflection of the love you have for us and those around us. Let us walk in the light, as you are in the light and let us not stop to see what the shadows may hold.
Amen

From Wesley Today

More and More
I look forward to walking in the door.
As I wrap my arms around,
I listen for that tell tale sound.
Of you relaxing and softly sighing.
Hearing children laughing, playing, crying.
More and More
I listen for six small feet on my floor.
Running from place to place,A smile on every face.
More and More
I can’t wait for what’s in store.
The good times and the bad.
Joy, Pain, happy or sad.
I know it will all work out, by and by,
Because we’ll see it through you and I.
So More and More,
It’s always new.
More and More, I love you.

I just found out there is another "Redneck Goddess" out there... She is a bit younger than me.. but her attitude reminds me of a me I once was... Just wanted to let ya'll know in case you run into her blogs, you will definitely notice a difference!

Call of the day

This is Kelly, how may I help you today?

Yesh Cheryl, I need to make an appointment can I get an appointment this morning?

What kind of problem are you having?

My back is killing me, it has been like this for months, I have to see someone TODAY!

Have you seen anyone of our doctors before?

No.

Ma'am, both of our back specialists are booked up today, could I suggest you contact your primary care doctor to see what they recommend?

My insurance doesn't need a referral, why should I call them?

Because they may be able to see you and see what is causing your pain, to see whether it is a strain, or if it's something you may need surgery for.

Look, I cannot deal with this pain, can you see me today?

No, ma'am, I do not think we can work you in today.

What am I going to do, my other doctor can't see me either?

I'm sorry ma'am, I can make you an appointment for next week.

No, I might as well just shoot my self in the head.

(she hung up then)

Ciggies

So I am almost done quitting smoking... It has taken me longer than I wanted. I still want to LIGHT the dang things even if I don't want to smoke them! How crazy is that!
I have 4 left. This will be the last 4. I will be buying no more. I cannot bum at wk, wouldn't want to, really. I am on the chantix. It is doing REALLY well. So tomorrow I start my bank of money... everytime I would usually buy smokes, I will drop in $3... which is the ave of what I have been spending.
I feel LOTS better and am much morechipper and energetic... quite annoying actually.
I was supposed to be QUIT for good last week, on Sunday. Then I broke down and bought some Sunday afternoon, gave 12 of the 20 cigs to my ex husband, then bought more on Tuesday. Let someone else bum 5 of those 20, then bought a pack Fri am. So of 43 cigarettes I have had to light over the last week, I have 4 left then that habit is going away for good. NO more.
My grandfather keeps saying he is going to do something for me when he knows I have quit. In a way that makes me NOT want to tell him I have quit. Does that make sense?
I am
NOT DOING THIS FOR
Grandaddy Stella
Daddy Emily
Vinnie Mary
or even

Wesley

DOING THIS FOR ME.... for my health and frankly, for my budget!
So I will be about $20 a week richer and I will breathe easier while I am doing it!
